Glen Moriwaki is an artist living in Oakland, California.
He received his BA, MA, and MFA degrees in painting from UC Berkeley, where he was awarded the Eisner Prize in Fine Arts.
Glen paints large format abstractions on canvas in both acrylic and oil as well as smaller works on paper. He has exhibited his work locally, in Hawaii, and abroad since 1978.
Current work features overall fields of marks, strokes, and dots painted in layers that are the result of techniques and processes of paint application, which favor randomness, accident, and happenstance over traditional composition.
Glen’s paintings can be seen by appointment at Live Worms Gallery in North Beach. Since 1987 he has taught painting for City College of San Francisco at the Fort Mason Art Center.
