MFA Art Practice at the School of Visual Arts invites emerging and mid-career artists working in all disciplines to apply for the inaugural Art Practice Artist-in-Residence program. One artist will be selected to be the Artist-in-Residence for the duration of the Art Practice program’s summer semester.
The residency period will be June 12 – August 4, 2017. The Artist-in-Residence will receive a studio, access to the facilities, including the Metal Shop, Wood Shop, Digital Sculpture Center, Digital Editing Lab, Fibers Lab, Ceramics Lab and Nature and Technology Lab, and a $2500 stipend.
He or she is expected to engage with the SVA Art Practice community, participate in weekly group critiques, and develop a project with first-year MFA candidates in the program, which will culminate in a public presentation (exhibition, screening, performance, book launch, etc.)
Applications are due February 15, 2017.
